Dana Signs No Pork Pledge
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in California’s Eighth District, announced that she has signed Citizens Against Government Waste’s “No Pork Pledge.” Walsh is the only candidate, Republican or Democrat, to sign the pledge.
“The federal government does not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem,” said Walsh. “In order to restore the people’s faith in our government, we need to stop the political practice of bringing back pork to the district for electoral gain. It is time to finally end the pork barrel earmarks. No more lip service. No more window dressing reforms.”
The pledge specifies that Walsh will not request any pork barrel earmarks that meet the following criteria - requested by only one chamber of Congress, not specifically authorized, not competitively awarded, not requested by the President, greatly exceeds the President’s budget request or the previous year’s funding, not the subject of Congressional hearings, or serves only a local or special interest.
Citizens Against Government Waste has documented during the past 20 years over 100,000 earmark projects that have cost the taxpayers $290 billion.
“I am running to offer the people of San Francisco a choice. Unlike the incumbent, I will not be a defender of the status quo in Washington. You can count on me to make wise choices and hard decisions that will clean up the system which voters have come to despise,” said Walsh. “Polling numbers show the opinion of Congress is at an all time low. That’s due to Speaker Pelosi’s leadership especially when it comes to earmarks. Just look at the $787 billion stimulus bill passed last year. It has not worked and Congress spent billions on wasteful projects.”

Somebody somewhere has to rein in the spending. And Pelosi is a major place to start. She is such a disappointment to the nation, CA and womanhood. Liberal Progressives will chew up the nation and spit it out for their own gain, so starting by pledging to not request special earmarks is a beginning. Fighting for Term Limits is another and the illegals are another. No amnesty, get legal or go home and come back legally. I’m not against immigration. But it must be done legally, and make the old laws work for hiring illegals, fine the hell out of the employers for breaking it. I’m still listening to you Dana.
I agree! I am sick and tired of what amounts to legalized bribery among these elected officials. The whole lot of them are so corrupt they should be thrown in jail, let alone thrown out of power. That’s what would happen to any of us if we were running our business like these people run government.
It is time to stop it and time to put responsible people in…
The belief that we can spent our way out of this mess is absurd.
Thank you for pledging no pork Dana, wish Nnacy would listen to her constituents
