Honoring Our Heroes

May 31, 2010

As you gather with your family and friends for Memorial Day festivities, let us take a moment to reflect on the meaning and significance of this day for our country.

Generations of men and women have given their lives to serve in the armed services. Today there are almost 3 million Veterans and over 1.2 million active duty military personnel who call California home. I am so proud of to have so many heroes living in our cities and neighborhoods.

Their dedication and tremendous sacrifice provides you and I the foundation to have the fullest of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For some these sacrifices have come at a great cost.

So on this Memorial Day, let's join together with great humility and gratitude to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country. We also honor those lost lives by thanking to those who put their lives in danger for you and I.

Thank you Veterans and active duty military personnel! We do not take your service for granted.

Happy Memorial Day,

WALSH WINS ENDORSEMENT OF GRAND OL’ PATRIOT TRUMPETER

May 28, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO, CA...Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for Congress in California's 8th District, proudly announced that she has received the endorsement of the Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter.

In a letter to Walsh, the organization wrote: "Endorsements from Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter are not given just to endorse a candidate and fill a seat, they are given to True Conservatives that deserve the support and energy to get them elected from Grassroot Patriots across this state. This endorsement means that your campaign has resonated with voters in your district and we will hold your leadership at a higher standard because you now have Grassroot support which will be known across the state."

Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter endorsements are based on a candidate's stand on the issues and support from individual Tea Party members within the district.

"This endorsement means that I am the true conservative in this Republican Primary. "Their endorsement will be a major help in getting Tea Party members to vote for me on June 8th. Unlike Speaker Pelosi, I have great respect for the Tea Party Movement. I will make it clear to Pelosi that her characterization of the Tea Parties as "Astroturf" is as misguided as her leftist agenda.

"I am in this race to offer the people of San Francisco a choice. Unlike the incumbent, I will not be a defender of the status quo in Washington. You can count on me to make wise choices and hard decisions that will clean up the system which voters have come to despise," said Walsh. Unlike my Republican opponent, I will focus this race on immediate, commonsense positions to fight the assault on our free enterprise system and personal freedoms.

A Republican to the Left of Pelosi?

May 26, 2010

I am confident that you are aware of the difficulty being a Republican living in San Francisco. There are not very many of us, so it may come as a shock to you that I in fact have a primary election in just two weeks.

You may not even believe it when I tell you that my Primary opponent is to the left of Nancy Pelosi on several issues that are of great concern to our country and to our security. Can you imagine a Republican taking the place of Pelosi in the U.S. Congress only to vote to cut defense spending? Close Guantanamo Bay? And repeal the Patriot Act? I have been working hard to expose my opponent for his liberal views, but I need your help.

If you want a true, conservative Republican to take Pelosi's seat in Congress, then it is critical that you consider a small donation. Your contribution will give me the resources needed to send a final mail piece to the Republicans in San Francisco, exposing my opponent for who he really is.

We have outstanding grassroots support from across the country from concerned Americans who have made contributions to help defeat Nancy Pelosi. Remember when Pelosi referred to the tea party, grassroots movement as "astroturf?" Donate and show her that when you fall on turf just how bad it burns.

With less than two weeks to go until the Primary Election, please consider a donation of $50, $20, or even $10 to support a true Republican candidate faces Nancy Pelosi in the general election. Americans should have the opportunity to replace Pelosi with a Congresswoman who will take a hard stance on national security, the War on Terror, and illegal immigration.

Send a message to the Republicans of San Francisco that America supports a true, conservative Republican for U.S. Congress.

Chang Joins Team Walsh

May 17, 2010

Walsh Wins Another Big Endorsement

San Francisco, CA  -  Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for Congress in California's 8th District, proudly announced that she has received the endorsement of Albert Chang, who is the Co-Chairman of the Chinese Alliance and the Chairman of the Shandong Association.

"Dana Walsh is the best candidate to take on Pelosi," said Chang. "Not only does her campaign have the necessary fundraising momentum, but Dana also has the strongest stands on the most pressing issues confronting our country."

Albert Chang has been very active in the San Francisco community for decades. Besides presently serving as the Chairman of the Shandong Association, he has been a member of the Board of Governors for the East West Center, appointed to the California Architect State Board by Governor Wilson, and Chairman of the Chinatown Merchants Association.

"I am proud Albert has joined our campaign. He is a great man of influence in the San Francisco area. His support will help deliver many votes," said Walsh. "Albert understands that Republicans must nominate the candidate who can run a competitive campaign against Pelosi. My positions on the key issues offer voters a clear cut difference unlike my Republican Primary opponent. His beliefs on national security mirror or are to the left of the Speaker. Voters can count on me to be a supporter of a strong national defense rather than another apologetic politician."

Senator Aanestad Endorses Walsh

May 03, 2010

Walsh Candidacy Gaining Momentum Every Day

San Francisco, CA - Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for Congress in California’s 8th District, proudly announced that she has received another impressive endorsement.  Senator Samuel Mark Aanestad, who is running for Lt. Governor, has joined Walsh’s long list of supporters.

“As someone who has served in both the California Assembly and Senate, I can recognize leadership skills.  Dana Walsh has impressed me.  She is well spoken and has a clear understanding of the difficult issues facing both our state and country,” said Aanestad.  “Republicans of the 8th district would be well served by nominating Dana Walsh.”

Senator Samuel Aanestad is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who was elected to the California State Assembly in 1998 to represent the 3rd District.  In 2002, he was elected to the California State Senate.  His top priorities are preserving rural health care, protecting North State water, and serving the needs of the citizens of the 4th Senate District.

His distinguished medical career included practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery in Grass Valley, and serving as the Vice-Chief of Surgery at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.  He also served three terms on the California Dental Association Council on Legislation, including three years as chairman, and he served two terms as president of the Butte-Sierra District Dental Society. He is also a member of the California and American Dental Association.

“I am honored to have earned Senator Aanestad’s respect and endorsement.  His support will send a strong message to district 8 voters that we have the campaign with the best chances of defeating Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” said Walsh.

On another campaign matter, Walsh has signed the several pledges to stop Congressional earmarks.  Walsh is the only candidate Republican or Democrat to sign both the no new taxes pledge and the no pork pledge.

Walsh Asks Speaker to Join Her In Condemning Election of Iran to Commission on the Status of Women

May 02, 2010

Pelosi Needs to Stand Up for this Outrage Against Women

San Francisco, CA - Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for Congress in California’s 8th District, asked Speaker Nancy Pelosi to join her in condemning the United Nation actions of electing Iran to its Commission on State of Women.

“This is a slap in the face to women across the world.  I am hoping that Speaker Pelosi will join me in expressing deep disappointment in the election of Iran to this women’s commission,” said Walsh. “It is like putting a wife-batterer on commission to study domestic abuse.”

Walsh believes that Iran’s history and current practices against women should have prevented them from serving on this commission which is “dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women” according to the Commission’s website.

“It is hard to believe that after all the publicity last week regarding senior clerics blaming women wearing revealing clothing for earth quakes that the UN would take such action,” said Walsh.

“As the first women Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi should take a strong stand against Iran showing that the United States will not tolerate discrimination against women,” demanded Walsh.
