As Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi resort to reconciliation to pass one of the largest reform bills in history--a reform bill that we the people don't even know what provisions it contains--demand that Nancy Pelosi and the rest of Congress be stopped.

No one who knows Nancy Pelosi harbors any illusion that she is even capable of bipartisan leadership, much less committed to it. The total lack of transparency in developing the Health Care Reform bill shows she has no intention of hearing from anyone who doesn’t agree with her leftist agenda.
When even the Associated Press writes, “Republicans weren’t invited” to the deliberations, what are the chances the general public would get to see the wheeling and dealing? And the list of those who were invited….well, that’s none of our business, apparently.
The head of C-Span noted that since the earlier negotiations were closed, perhaps “letting the sun shine in on the “critical stage of reconciliation between the chambers” would be appropriate. Don’t hold your breath.
The image of the speaker of the House literally giggling when reminded of Obama’s campaign promise to air the health care reform hearings was disturbing. She added “There were a number of things he swore on the campaign trail…” to chuckles from her colleagues, including tax cheat Charlie Rangel. Viewers are left with the distinct impression that Nancy and her comrades consider campaign promises a joke.
But apparently the joke is on us. Her remark that “tens of thousands of people participated in our town meetings.” on the health care bill is surreal. It is clear she TOTALLY ignored the town halls – and their message: “Kill the Bill.”
A side note: Closing Republicans out of the health care debate was petty and irresponsible. To misrepresent them saying that they had no ideas was an outright lie. The Republicans proposed 37 bills each of which addressed specific health reform issues separately – instead of the convoluted labyrinth of the Democrat Bill.
Nancy Pelosi has gone beyond double-speak when she characterizes her handling of the health care bill debacle as “open” or “transparent.” Her heavy-handed handling of the health care bill was so egregious that she had no credibility as a leader.
Question: Which phrase is more ludicrous when it comes from the speaker’s mouth; “transparent government” or “the most ethical congress in history.”
It's going to take a lot of dedicated and excited supporters to help me unseat Nancy Pelosi. Please listen to my audio message about stepping up my support online so that we can send a conservative representative to Washington. I have set a goal to double the number of our Facebook supporters by the end of the year, which is only a few days away! We're getting there, but we need your help.
I believe Nancy Pelosi has led this country in the wrong direction - if you agree, please get involved! This will be a difficult election in which every vote matters, so I am thankful for every new supporter.
Nigel Lawson discusses the shoddy science that has fueled the debate on global warming (Oh! I’m sorry. There IS no debate, according to the IPCC, et al.!) But there is skepticism, a healthy dose, except among those who even after the hacked emails exposing that much of the evidence being presented has been cooked insist, ala Al Gore, that the planet has a fever.
Note: Copenhagen may have its first White Christmas in 14 years, Obama had to get back to DC to beat the blizzard there and road, rail, and airport travel in Europe has been disrupted by winter storms.
But whether or not the world is warming, and whether human activity is really the cause, the question must be: What is a solution to the problem? Apparently, it’s another big bash next year. (Mexico City here we come… )
Let’s consider Mr. Lawson’s solution: Adapt to the temperature changes that arise. And I heartily concur that “counseling” be provided for all who have become dependent on, dare I say addicted to, the drama and spectacle of “conference deprivation.” But they should pay for it with their own dime.
Mike DeNunzio, a California Commissioner on Aging, has written a concise review of many of the flaws in the Health Care Reform bill that Congress is trying to ram through. Although it primarily addresses the concerns of seniors, it also points out the shortcomings of socialized medicine in general and emphasizes the strengths of the U.S. system, especially in regard to our leadership in medical innovation.
Why can’t the mainstream media “connect the dots” the way they are connected here? There is consensus that Health Care reform is necessary. I believe it must be done incrementally; fixing ONLY what needs fixing. And making sure that the measures taken to fix the problems actually work before dismantling what currently exists. That is the thinking behind the Republican bills that have been proposed.
Let’s tell the Senate to “Kill the Bill” that is before it now; it is complicated, confusing and bloated with bureaucracy. Start over. And this time, tell Nancy Pelosi to listen to Republicans, because they will propose measures that build on our current system while working on solutions to the specific problems we face.
