Thank you!

Jun 11, 2010

The outcome wasn’t what we had all hoped for.

There are still many votes being counted in this race - and every vote is important.
And though fewer than a thousand votes separate the two of us, the result is clear. My campaign for Congress is over – but the battle to “Take Our Country Back” is not.

Throughout my campaign, I delivered a simple message; certainly my supporters heard it often enough!  “We have a government that is completely out of control, yet is intent on controlling every aspect of its citizens’ lives.”

That has not changed. It will not change. And our battle isn’t over.

And the second part of my message was my mission in challenging Nancy Pelosi: The Republicans must win back control of Congress in 2010. The pendulum must swing back against the unprecedented overreach that we have witnessed over the last two years.

And that battle is just beginning.

I am proud of the campaign we ran and especially proud, and humbled, by the broad support of all who contributed. To those who supported this campaign, who donated money, who walked precincts, who manned the phones and who took to the internet to deliver our message, I cannot thank you enough.

I want to thank my donors; the more than 37,000 people throughout this entire country who contributed to the campaign to unseat Nancy Pelosi and know that we must win this battle. I want you all to know that I will continue to work on your behalf.

Remember, by working on behalf of Republican candidates throughout the country, you can all still work toward that goal. When Republicans take back the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi will lose her post as Speaker. I will be working with Republican candidates who share our goals of keeping our country safe and strong, of restoring the freedom and opportunity that has been lost, and to push reforms that will end the corruption, arrogance and the disconnect between those who govern and their constituents.

Thank you again for all your support. Let us all commit to “Take Our Country Back.”

Walsh Announces Five-Point Plan on Illegal Immigration

Jun 08, 2010

San Francisco, CA - Today Dana Walsh, candidate for U.S. Congress in California’s Eighth District, announced her five-point plan for tackling the illegal immigration problem that has been especially hard hitting in California.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously said that enforcing immigration law was “un-American.” San Francisco, the city she represents, touts its “sanctuary city” status. City leadership goes even further; it offers illegal aliens an ID card that allows them to access city services. Our district attorney’s office has gone from defying immigration law to aiding and abetting illegal criminals, as exposed when one of the coddled thugs murdered Anthony Bologna and his sons, Mathew and Michael, on our city streets.

Walsh is adamant in her opposition to any form of amnesty for those who have entered the country illegally. Instead, she suggests, fast-track those who respect our immigration laws and are waiting, often for years, to LEGALLY enter the country. “Send a clear message to our leaders – Enforce Existing Immigration Laws.  Period,” said Walsh.

The costs of illegal immigration are bankrupting cities and counties. Providing “social services” is just the tip of the iceberg. Law enforcement and incarceration costs are surging and 25% of our jail population is made up of illegals; many more criminals brutalize the neighborhoods of law-abiding immigrants. The cost in jobs is at a time when the unemployment rate in our state is over 12 %.

The country’s easily penetrable border is also an issue of homeland security.

Walsh’s Five-Point Plan includes:

  • Ending the “Catch and Release” policy, making expedited removal of illegal aliens mandatory
  • Mandatory employer verification of worker eligibility to work in the United States and stiff punitive penalties for knowingly hiring illegal workers.
  • Prohibiting illegal aliens from any access to Social Security benefits.
  • Limiting birthright citizenship to the children of United States citizens and legal permanent residents.
  • Ending all loopholes in federal laws that benefit illegal aliens and those who profit from their illegal presence in the United States.

Walsh believes that by limiting access to jobs and social services, people will be encouraged to return home and enter the United States legally.

Walsh also took the opportunity to criticize the incumbent, Nancy Pelosi, for failing to support measures to strengthen our borders. She is rated Zero by the U.S. Border Control. Pelosi has also voted for measures that encourage people to illegally enter the U.S., including in-state tuition for illegal immigrants, and increased educational, welfare and health care benefits.

“During her tenure as Speaker, Pelosi has done absolutely nothing about dealing with this growing problem. At a time of record unemployment we must make sure our citizens are getting the available jobs instead of those in our country illegally.” added Walsh.

Responding to the YouTube speech, “I disagree with Speaker Pelosi. Enforcement of our laws is not un-American. It is the sworn duty of elected officials,” said Walsh.

Walsh Wins Support for Immigration Plan

Jun 05, 2010

Once again my opponent gets his facts wrong. I'm proud to have received the endorsement of Jim Gilchrist, the founder of the Minutemen. If my opponent had bothered to listen to the automated call or read the press release, he would realize that I won this endorsement due to my 5 point plan on ending illegal immigration.

Our country and state are facing terrible problems due to our porous borders. Illegal immigration is jeopardizing our national security and our country's fiscal stability.

Unfortunately, my opponent, John Dennis has failed to develop a plan and has remained committed to his stands on appeasement. That's why he did not receive this important endorsement and I did.

Here is my plan on ending illegal immigration:

  • Ending the "Catch and Release" policy, making expedited removal of illegal aliens mandatory
  • Mandatory employer verification of worker eligibility to work in the United States and stiff punitive penalties for knowingly hiring illegal workers.
  • Prohibiting illegal aliens from any access to Social Security benefits.
  • Limit birthright citizenship to the children of United States citizens and legal permanent residents.
  • End all loopholes in federal laws that benefit illegal aliens and those who profit from their illegal presence in the United States.

Judge for yourself to see if I deserved this endorsement!

This Tuesday I would be honored to have your vote.

Know Your Way on Election Day – Many New Polling Places for the June 8 Primary Election

Jun 05, 2010

Department of Elections
City and County of San Francisco
John Arntz, Director

For Immediate Release

SAN FRANCISCO, June 4, 2010 – San Francisco has an increase of over 150 polling places for next Tuesday’s primary election, and this expansion means many voters will have new voting destinations on Election Day. These new voting sites represent a growth of nearly 40% since the last election, and all voters should ensure they know where to go to vote.

Voters are reminded to check the back cover of their Voter Information Pamphlet for the address of their polling place. The address is located on the upper left portion of the back cover, along with accessibility information for that site. Voters can also use the Department of Elections’ online Polling Place Lookup tool.

At sites that are no longer being used as polling places the Department of Elections will post “Change of Polling Place” signs on Election Day. The signs provide directions on detachable sheets of paper, which include the address, cross-streets and accessibility information of the new polling place.

If a polling place becomes unavailable after the Voter Information Pamphlet has been mailed, the Department notifies all registered voters within the affected precinct. A notification postcard is sent to inform these voters of the new location’s address, cross-streets and accessibility information.

For further information, voters can visit the Department of Elections’ website at http://www.sfelections.org or call (415) 554-4375.

Walsh Wins Minutemen Founder Endorsement

Jun 04, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Today Dana Walsh, candidate for U.S. Congress in California's Eighth District, proudly announced that the founder of Minutemen, Jim Gilchrist, has endorsed her candidacy.

Walsh won this important endorsement due to her recently published 5 Point Plan for ending illegal immigration and her strong stand on securing our borders, denying illegals any form of amnesty and cracking down on taxpayer funded benefits that attract illegals to the United States.

"This endorsement proves that I am the strongest candidate to take on Nancy Pelosi on amnesty. I have not wavered on my position," said Walsh.

Last month Walsh released a plan for tackling the illegal immigration problem that has been especially hard hitting in California. Her Five-Point Plan includes:
Ending the "Catch and Release" policy, making expedited removal of illegal aliens mandatory
Mandatory employer verification of worker eligibility to work in the United States and stiff punitive penalties for knowingly hiring illegal workers.
Prohibiting illegal aliens from any access to Social Security benefits.
Limit birthright citizenship to the children of United States citizens and legal permanent residents.
End all loopholes in federal laws that benefit illegal aliens and those who profit from their illegal presence in the United States.
Jim Gilchrist stated, "Dana Walsh has a Five Point Plan that will solve the nation's illegal immigration problem.  You can trust her when she says she will demand the Federal Government to enforce our laws and our borders.  Unlike her opponent Nancy Pelosi who has stated that enforcing immigration laws was "un-American", Dana Walsh has a committed stand on the issues of immigration reform and border security.  California needs someone in DC that will fight on behalf of taxpayers to end the influx of illegal aliens in America and that is why I wholeheartedly endorse Dana Walsh for US Congress."

Jim Gilchrist founded the multi-ethnic Minuteman Project on Oct. 1, 2004, after years of frustrated efforts trying to get a neglectful U.S. government to simply enforce existing immigration laws.  He has been interviewed over 4000 times on the issues of illegal immigration and border security, is the author of an essay in the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, as well an author of "Minuteman: The Battle to Secure America's Borders" co-written with New York Times Best Selling Author Dr. Jerome Corsi.

One Week Until Primary Election

Jun 01, 2010

The Primary Election is one week from today, and Republicans in District 8 have an important choice to make: who will challenge Nancy Pelosi in November's election. My opponent and I agree on many of the issues, and we are both Citizen Statesmen who oppose Nancy Pelosi's agenda.

However, throughout this campaign, I have learned many things about my opponent that bother me greatly. We have distinctly different positions on issues that I believe are downright problematic for conservative voters. It is crucial in these final days that I bring to light these distinctions that he continues to try and hide.

My intention is not to be a mud slinger or make this election negative. Instead, I must inform you of my opponent's positions. Here are his beliefs that I take serious issue with...

First, he is an appeaser when it comes to foreign enemies, caring more about what they think about Americans than doing what's right for our safety. He supports a cut-and-run strategy in Afghanistan. Finally, he supports cuts in defense spending (at a time when Democrats have already proposed cuts of up to 25%!) and believes our foreign military bases unconstitutional.

My opponent has expressed all of these positions himself, and they are highlighted in much greater detail on the website http://www.JohnDennisExposed.com, which we created several months ago. Since that time we have been under attack by his supporters, who have dedicated hours of their time to contest the content of these videos with YouTube. Their notable efforts to keep this information from the Republican voters in San Francisco is evidence that these are liberal positions that my opponent doesn't want you to know about... Why dedicate all of this time to keep the truth from you and I? See for yourself at www.JohnDennisExposed.com.

So before you go vote in one week, please visit www.JohnDennisExposed.com and confirm that you are voting for a true conservative Republican. Watch the featured video on the left hand side of the website for a revealing look at my opponents associations:

Honoring Our Heroes

May 31, 2010

As you gather with your family and friends for Memorial Day festivities, let us take a moment to reflect on the meaning and significance of this day for our country.

Generations of men and women have given their lives to serve in the armed services. Today there are almost 3 million Veterans and over 1.2 million active duty military personnel who call California home. I am so proud of to have so many heroes living in our cities and neighborhoods.

Their dedication and tremendous sacrifice provides you and I the foundation to have the fullest of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. For some these sacrifices have come at a great cost.

So on this Memorial Day, let's join together with great humility and gratitude to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country. We also honor those lost lives by thanking to those who put their lives in danger for you and I.

Thank you Veterans and active duty military personnel! We do not take your service for granted.

Happy Memorial Day,

WALSH WINS ENDORSEMENT OF GRAND OL’ PATRIOT TRUMPETER

May 28, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO, CA...Today Dana Walsh, Republican candidate for Congress in California's 8th District, proudly announced that she has received the endorsement of the Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter.

In a letter to Walsh, the organization wrote: "Endorsements from Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter are not given just to endorse a candidate and fill a seat, they are given to True Conservatives that deserve the support and energy to get them elected from Grassroot Patriots across this state. This endorsement means that your campaign has resonated with voters in your district and we will hold your leadership at a higher standard because you now have Grassroot support which will be known across the state."

Grand Ol' Patriot Trumpeter endorsements are based on a candidate's stand on the issues and support from individual Tea Party members within the district.

"This endorsement means that I am the true conservative in this Republican Primary. "Their endorsement will be a major help in getting Tea Party members to vote for me on June 8th. Unlike Speaker Pelosi, I have great respect for the Tea Party Movement. I will make it clear to Pelosi that her characterization of the Tea Parties as "Astroturf" is as misguided as her leftist agenda.

"I am in this race to offer the people of San Francisco a choice. Unlike the incumbent, I will not be a defender of the status quo in Washington. You can count on me to make wise choices and hard decisions that will clean up the system which voters have come to despise," said Walsh. Unlike my Republican opponent, I will focus this race on immediate, commonsense positions to fight the assault on our free enterprise system and personal freedoms.
