Pelosi and Hypocrisy

The word hypocrisy just doesn’t seem appropriate. Too tame by a long shot. Besides, the word has lost its punch. The daily barrage of it has worn us down.

But the Copenhagen Junket takes the cake.

A little history.  Who can forget Nancy Pelosi’s “jack in the box” performance during the 2009 State of the Union address?  She seemed airborne, jumping and clapping as Obama berated auto executives for using private jets to get to the hearings in DC and pontificating that companies that got assistance from the government should fly commercial. Well and good. Austerity practices make sense in bankrupt companies.

They make sense for bankrupt countries, too.
But Nancy has never had such qualms about her own air travel. The internet is filled with information of her excesses and the unconscionable waste of tax dollars squandered by Queen Nancy as she jets to wherever she pleases.

Judicial Watch has a scathing expose describing Nancy’s demands.

But the excesses revealed about her junket to Copenhagen with at least 101 Congress-related attendees may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.  While she and her comrades are bankrupting the country, Nancy deems it appropriate to party hearty in the name of saving the planet.
Some ugly realities exposed in the CBS article:

The idiocy of the remark by a Democrat congressman that this “showed the world the US is serious about climate change.” Say what!? I’ll tell you what it shows. It shows that Congress cares not a whit about its own carbon footprint, just that of everyone else. Above all, it shows Congress never overlooks an opportunity to bilk the taxpayer for its extravagances.  Fiddling while Rome is burning.

Also, when asked how much this farce cost, Nancy insisted that it did “comply with disclosure statements.” Yeah, Nance.  Not too hard when you and your cronies WRITE the rules re disclosure. So much for transparency. And as for any reference to her claim of having “the most ethical Congress” - it’s reached the point that making fun of her on this seems like a sucker punch.

Side note: Good old Charlie Rangel, the tax cheat who writes tax laws for us little people, was on this binge. Shouldn’t he be in jail?

Closing note:  Nancy refused to give any interviews.  Why the heck was she there then?  I was looking forward to her making a fool of herself trying to explain how she’s saving the planet by bringing a carbon-spewing Congressional entourage to Copenhagen at taxpayer expense.

the best is the part that when she says her request for a military transport was an “exception to standard policy.” Wow.
